Meaning of the Trident Bell

• Trident = Three Pure Ones: The trident handle represents the three supreme deities of Taoism—Yuqing, Shangqing, and Taiqing—imbuing the ritual implement with sacred authority.

• Bell Sound = Communication: The clear sound of the bell can both invite deities to descend and also frighten and dispel evil spirits.
